Yesterday during a break from class (that we were avoiding going back to) we (a classmate and two teachers) were given the perfect excuse to avoid said classes. Across the road is a daily Chinese newspaper that, with new year tradition, had a ceremony complete with dancing dragons and a string of firecrackers taller than the light post and lots of loud drumming. Even on this usually uneventful side-street the tourists flocked around. It's as if they are equipped with some freakish sixth sense.
Anyway, All this is done to apparently bring them luck in the new year.
